Introduce yourself, please
My name is Scott Charlesworth. I am Australian but I live in Dubai for 5 years, where I am a teacher in an international school. I am in holiday.

What trip are you in?
I started by cycling around Corsica for a week. Now I am heading towards Bordeaux. I want to cycle along the Canal du Midi. In Bordeaux I will join my wife and we will follow the Tour de France for a couple of days…

Where were you yesterday and where will you be tomorrow?
Last night I was in the ferry to Toulon where I slept (very badly) and tomorrow I would like to be in Montpellier, where another Warmshower host will host me.

How do you chose your route?
I generally use Google Map, but the indication for cyclists are sometime wrong : from Marseille to Istres I have cycled partly on motorways, what is forbidden for cyclist… But it seems that cycling through Marseille is quite difficult…
Arriving in Istres, to get to your house, Google Map also advised me to ride through the Ranquet and to follow the coast on which appeared to be a forest track. I couldn’t use that track with my trike, so I had to ride back up to the main Road.

To get to Montpellier I plan to go to Salin de Giraud, then to cycle around the étang de Vacarès…

What sort of bike do you use?
I use a recumbent trike. Its is very comfortable

Je l’appelle Scott Charlesworth. Je suis australien mais j’habite à Dubai depuis 5 ans, où je suis instituteur dans une école internationale. Je suis en vacances.

Quel voyage fais-tu?
J’ai commencé en faisant le tour de Corse pendant une semaine et maintenant je vais vers Bordeaux. Je veux faire le canal du Midi. A Bordeaux je vais retrouver ma femme et nous allons suivre le Tour de France pendant quelques étapes…

Où étais-tu hier et où seras-tu demain?
La nuit dernière j’étais dans le ferry pour Toulon dans lequel j’ai dormi (très mal) et demain je souhaiterais être à Montpellier, où un autre hôte Warmshower doit m’accueillir.

Comment choisis-tu ta route?
J’utilise en général Google Map, mais les indications pour les cyclistes sont souvent fausses : de Marseille à Istres je me suis retrouvé sur des autoroutes, ce qui est interdit…  mais il semble que traverser Marseille à vélo soit relativement difficile…
En arrivant à Istres, pour arriver chez vous, Google Map m’a également conseillé de passer par le Ranquet puis de suivre la côte sur ce qui était finalement un chemin forestier. Je ne pouvais prendre ce chemin avec mon trike, si bien que j’ai dû remonter jusqu’à la route.
[NdR Le chemin forestier est celui-ci, et 2 visiteurs précédents sont effectivement passés par là pour venir chez moi…]

Quelle sorte de vélo utilises-tu?
C’est un trike. C’est vraiment confortable.
